Answering The Atheist

A VISITOR'S RANT:
A query, do you rarely look at yourself? I mean REALLY look at what your saying. Are you so blinded by your fear of death and a faith that was only ever designed to subdue the masses that you do not know what you're doing to the world? Promoting such hatred and idiocy is ridiculous, calling a person 'ignorant' for questioning the bible is ridiculous. I could say the same of you for not questioning the bible because you're basing your beleifs on blind faith, something more together ignorant.

RESPONSE:
Hmmm, when "Legion" sent his message my way, he failed to include his e-mail address, thus making it impossible for me to respond direction to him. Regardless, I'll respond here. Perhaps he will again visit our site someday and see this response.

Do I look at myself? Yes, daily. So far as what I am saying; I am reading and responding to supposed contradictions proposed by those who are opposed to the Bible. My responses are intended to look at the supposed contradictions and determine whether they are indeed a contradiction, or if there is a plausible explanation for the apparent discrepancy.

Blinded by fear of death? No, hardly. I am not afraid of death. I am confident that when I die, I will go to a better place. If you think what I write is motivated by fear of death, you have completely missed the mark.

A faith designed to subdue the masses? Again, hardly. The message of the gospel is a message of freedom. It is sin which subdues and brings the masses into bondage. My faith has not caged me, it has set me free. Certainly, there are some religions that have used faith to imprison people, but that is not the Christianity which the Bible teaches, nor the Christianity which I hold to.

Promoting hatred? Please, where have I promoted hatred?

I have never called anyone "ignorant" for questioning the Bible. I have no trouble with people questioning the Bible. I do not accept the Bible on blind faith, nor do I expect that anyone else would. I accept the Bible because the evidence demonstrates that it is indeed the word of God. However, those who will simply pick out two verses which appear to be contradictory, and set them against one another, and call it a contradiction, with no view towards the context of the verses, are acting ignorantly. This, I gladly and will perpetually call ignorance.

You assume that I have not questioned the Bible. Please tell me, what do you know of my journey of faith? You are sorely mistaken in thinking that I have just accepted the Bible without questioning it. You are correct, to do so would be blind faith, which indeed would be ignorance. However, the development of my faith has been based upon evidence, not a blind leap.
