THE ATHEIST'S COMPLAINT:
On what day did the temple burn? 2 Kings 25:8-9 says it was on the seventh day of the fifth month, while Jeremiah 52:12-13 says it was on the tenth day of the fifth month. Is there a contradiction?
It is entirely possible that 2 Kings 25:8 speaks of Nebuzaradan's journey to Jerusalem, which began the seventh day of the month, and that the actions taken in verse 9 occurred on the tenth day of the month, as indicated in Jeremiah 52. Or, it is possible that the fires may have been started on the seventh day of the month and continued until the tenth, and perhaps new fires begun on the tenth as well.
There is no contradiction.
