Jan 5, 2003 In Matthew 27:44, we read that both robbers reviled Jesus, but in Luke 23:41-43, only one robber reviled Jesus, while the other believed. Is there a contradiction?
Jan 12, 2003 In Luke 23:43, Jesus tells the believing robber he will be with him in paradise that day, but the fact is Jesus was in the grave following his death, and did not ascend to heaven (Acts 2:24, 31; John 20:17). Is there a contradiction?
Jan 19, 2003 In Mark 15:43-45, Joseph of Arimathea asks Pilate for Jesus' body, and Pilate is unaware of whether he is dead; only after sending a centurion and receiving this confirmation does he allow Joseph to take the body. However in John 19:31-33, 38, Pilate actually authorizes the leg-breaking to ensure they have all died and then authorizes Joseph to remove the body. Mark 15:42 states it was evening, ie. the Sabbath had already begun (the Jewish ‘day' beginning at 6 pm), when Joseph asks for the body. However, burial was not allowed on this day, showing the fictitiousness of the story.
Jan 26, 2003 Luke has Jesus appearing to "the eleven" on the same day as the resurrection (24:33), but John states Thomas was missing on this appearance and it was a week later that Jesus actually appeared to all eleven (20:24, 26). Is there a contradiction?
Feb 2, 2003 Elijah and Moses appeared many centuries after they died (Mark 9:2-4), but only God is eternal (1 Timothy 6:15-16). Is there a contradiction?
Feb 9, 2003 Who was Laban's father, Bethuel (Genesis 28:5) or Nahor (Genesis 29:5)? Is there a contradiction?
Feb 16, 2003 Jesus was to be buried for three days and nights (Matthew 12:40), but was actually only buried for one day and two nights (Mark 15:42-43; John 20:1). The texts show the burial did not take place until Friday night and the tomb was empty before Sunday morning. Jesus was NOT dead for "three days and three nights" whether present-day or Jewish time reckoning is used.
Feb 23, 2003 The Bible states that God is "spirit", ie. non-physical (John 4:24), and yet he is always called ‘him' or ‘he' as if he had a male body. Also, we read of God's feet (Psalm 18:9), arms (Jeremiah 27:5), wings (Psalm 36:7), hands (Job 27:11), eyes (Deuteronomy 8:3), mouth (Isaiah 1:20), ears (2 Chronicles 6:40), nostrils (Exodus 15:8) and legs (Genesis 3:8). Is there a contradiction?
Mar 2, 2003 How many Gods are there? Some passages state there is only one (Deuteronomy 4:35; Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 44:8; Isaiah 45:5-6; Mark12:29), but others indicate there are several (Genesis 1:26; Genesis 3:22; Exodus 12:12). Is there a contradiction?
Mar 9, 2003 Does the Bible condemn astrology? Some Bible passages condemn astrology (Leviticus 19:26; Deuteronomy 18:10-12; Isaiah 47:13-14; Jeremiah 10:2), while others approve it (Genesis 1:14; Judges 5:20; Matthew 2:1-2; Luke 21:25). Is there a contradiction?
Mar 16, 2003 Was Adam permitted to eat of every tree in the garden or not? Genesis 1:29 says yes, Genesis 2:17 says no. Is there a contradiction?
Mar 23, 2003 Did Adam die on the day he ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil? Genesis 2:17 says yes, Genesis 3:6 & 5:5 show that he didn't. Is there a contradiction?
Mar 30, 2003 Does God know and see everything? Some Bible texts say yes (Psalm 44:21; 139:7-8; Proverbs 15:3, etc.), other Bible texts say no (Genesis 3:8; 18:20-21; 22:12; Numbers 22:9, etc.). Is there a contradiction?
