The Six Days Of Evolution

A recent e-mail exchange with a visitor to our web site touched on the thought that some "Christians" have no difficulty accepting evolution or the exuberant age affixed upon the universe by the evolutionists. Since such individuals claim to believe the Bible, but also acknowledge the cold hard truth of evolution, surely the rest of us archaic Bible believers should forsake the creation fairy tale as well - right?
Friend, may I suggest that not everyone who calls himself a Christian is actually a Christian. There are some who reject the need for an individual to be baptized, even though the Bible reveals that it is essential (Mark 16:16; Acts 22:16; 1 Peter 3:21). There are some who believe that man is born totally depraved, even though the Bible reveals that infants are innocent (2 Samuel 12:23; Jeremiah 19:4; Romans 7:9). Some teach that Jesus died just to save a few, though the Bible says He died to save all (John 3:16; 1 John 2:2). The list goes on and on. Time and again, the Scriptures reveal that we need to be concerned about truth, and believe and practice that which is given in God's word (John 8:32; 17:17; James 1:25; 2:2; 1 Peter 1:22). Can those who willfully reject what is recorded in God's word rightfully be called Christians?
Among the names given as proof that I should set aside my insistence that God created the universe and all that is in it in six literal days are evolutionary supporters such as Catholic cell biologist, Kenneth R. Miller; Pope Benedict and his predecessor, John Paul II; geneticist Francis Collins; and religious author, Tim Callahan. Perhaps to some that might be an impressive list of names; I guess I just don't get impressed all that easily. If these are supporters of evolution, then they make themselves enemies of God, for they reject what God's word says about the age of the earth, the universe, and evolution. This being the case, the very thing which Jesus said of the Jewish leadership who would not listen to Moses is also true of these:
Do not think that I shall accuse you to the Father, there is one who accuses you - Moses, in whom you trust. For if you believed Moses, you would have believed Me; for he wrote about Me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words? (John 5:45-47)
“If these are supporters of evolution, then they make themselves enemies of God...”
Genesis reveals that God created the heaven and earth and all that is in them in six literal days. Each day is described as "...the evening and the morning..." (Genesis 1:5, 8, 13, 19, 23, 31), which parallels the Jewish concept of a day (sundown to sundown). The Hebrew word used by Moses for "day" is yomn which is used almost exclusively in the Scriptures of a literal 24 hour day.
Genesis reveals that God "formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living being." (Genesis 2:7) Man did not evolve - he was created. Likewise, we are told that "...out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air..." (Genesis 2:19) They did not evolve from some other form of creature - they were created.
A Christian believes what God said in His word, the Bible. The beliefs of men such as those mentioned above do not accord with what God has revealed. How then can they be considered His people, if they do not believe His word?
If a fair maiden kisses a frog which instantly changes into a handsome prince, we would call it a fairy tale. But, if the frog takes 40 million years to turn into a prince, we call it evolution.1 What foolishness!
Some want to meld evolution and the creation account together, turning the days of creation into several millennia. Why give lipservice to divine revelation, but glory to human philosophy? The six days of evolution may salve the conscience of faithless believers, but the fact remains, they reject the God they claim to serve in favour of a primary atheistic theory.
A great resource to consider the folly of evolution is bible.ca, including quotes from evolutionary proponents who admit there is no evidence to support their theory.

Answering The Atheist
Complaint:
Was Moses in good mental and physical health at age 120? Deuteronomy 34:7 says yes, but Deuteronomy 31:2 says no. Is there a contradiction?
Response:
Deuteronomy 34:7 specifically records of Moses
...His eyes were not dim nor his natural vigor diminished.
From this record, it seems that Moses was in good health at the time of his death; neither his mental nor physical health are called into question. Quite simply, it was time for him to pass on, for God had said about the promised land, "...I have caused you to see it with your eyes, but you shall not cross over there." (Deuteronomy 34:4) It was not God's will that Moses enter the land, but it was time for the children of Israel to go.
Does Deuteronomy 31:2 reveal that he was in poor health, mentally or physically? It reads:
...I am one hundred and twenty years old today. I can no longer go out and come in. Also the LORD has said to me, 'You shall not cross over this Jordan.'
Where does this text say that Moses' health was diminished either mentally or physically? Best I can figure is that the questioner hangs his case on the phrase, "I can no longer go out and come in." Why could he no longer do this? Is it because his health had deteriorated? No, that's not the reason he gives - he refers to God's command that he would not enter the land.
The phrase "...go out and come in..." is used, not to speak of mental or physical health, but of leadership. After he rebelled against the Lord in the wilderness of Zin, Moses said to God:
Let the LORD, the God of spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation, who may go out before them and go in before them, who may lead them out and bring them in, that the congregation of the LORD may not be like sheep which give no shepherd. (Numbers 27:16-17).
Joshua would be Moses' replacement, who would "...go out ...and go in..." This is neither mental or physical health, but leadership.
There is no contradiction.
