Issues which we shall deal with in this article are things which we might consider 'modern problems,' yet if we look, we will see that many of them have found their place throughout history. Satan has used, and continues to use various forms of temptation to keep people from the truth of God's word. We must guard ourselves against the devil, by knowing the will of God.
Homosexuality is far from being just a modern problem, but in our day, we have seen it come to popularity. Even in Old Testament times, there were those who practiced homosexuality. The city of Sodom, known from the story of Lot, Abraham's nephew, was destroyed due to homosexuality. Today, it is an accepted practice, and recognized even by our governments as a "normal" way of life. To speak out against homosexuality, whether in private, or in public forums is considered prejdicial and wrong.
Even within several religious groups, homosexuality has become a sensitive issue, as many groups now allow not only fellowship to homosexuals, but some even have them in the pulpit preaching. I, not very long ago had someone blindly and ignorantly say to me, "homosexuality isn't wrong, is it?!" Allow me to draw your attention to the Scriptures, as I did with this individual. In 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, Paul writes, "Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God."
Our teens today, and even into the middle aged folks are becoming possessed with drugs, cigarettes and alcohol. Such products are addictive, and soon, they control the individual, not the individual controlling them. A person loses the ability to reason properly when under the influence of such products, thus leaving them open to all kinds of sinfulness. Regarding alcohol, the above passage condemns drunkards. If someone allows alcohol to take control of their ability to reason, they have become a drunkard, and sinned against the will of God. Drugs, cigarettes and alcohol ought to be abstained from. 1 Thessalonians 5:22 states, "Abstain from every form of evil." Surely, these things are devices of Satan.

Our generation, more than any other in history is prone to suicide. People get down on life and find that the only answer is to end their lives. In Roman society, this was thought to be an honourable choice, but not before the God of heaven. His desire is that we seek out meaning in life. He wants us to know comfort can be found in the arms of God. Away from God, there is no hope. Therefore, we have just cause to seek out His council. In so doing, our soul is saved from death, and preserved unto eternal life.
Lust is a severe plague to mankind. Its appeal is unto the physical desires which lie within each of us. Satan uses several mediums to draw people from proper thoughts to sexual thoughts which ought not to happen. Pornography lies on bookshelves at the corner store. Strip joints invite lust-hungry men to feed their desires. Even the immodest clothing which people so commonly wear today contribute to lust. Our own governments have stated that it is perfectly right for women to publically show their breasts. If such is not an invitation to lust, what is?
Satan is working hard today. He employs a number of temptations in order to pull us away from the way of truth. We must withstand him. We must overcome and conquer him.

Does the blood of animal sacrifices take away sin? Some texts say yes (Leviticus 4:20, 26, 31, 35; 5:10, 16, 18; 6:7; 17:11; Numbers 15:27-28; 29:5). Other texts say no (Hebrews 10:4, 11). Is there a contradiction?
