Christianity and Science have for years been portrayed by both scientists and Christians to be enemies of one another. Many who are scientifically minded refuse to accept Scriptural proofs, and the spiritually minded have disregarded scientific evidences. If we would only look at both Christianity and science with a pure mind, we would notice that they do not work against one another, but rather that they are in accordance with one another.
The relevance and authenticity of the Bible is shown in many ways. It is easiest to reconcile the Bible with science by noticing accounts of scientific foreknowledge. That is, scientific discoveries which had already been set out in Scripture well before mankind made such discoveries.
Herbert Spencer (1820-1903_ is credited with announcing that there are five "manifestations of the unknowable", namely time, force, action, space and matter. It is interesting to note that in the very first verse of the Bible, God had Moses write some 3400 years earlier, "In the beginning" (time), "God" (force), "created" (action), "the heavens" (space) "and the earth" (matter).
In March of 1919 the United States launched its first concrete ship. The dimensions of this vessel were 300 feet, by 50 feet, by 30 feet. These dimensions match in proportion to God's command to Noah concerning the ark. With all our technological advances, ships continued to be built in this same proportion, for it results in the strongest possible vessel. God foreknew, and foretold this, even to Noah.
Matthew Fontaine Maury, the founder of the science of Oceanography, is credited with discovering the "paths of the seas". Credit though lies with the eighth Psalm, for one day when he was ill, he had his son read the Scriptures to him. His son read, "...the fowls of the air, the paths of the sea." Upon hearing this, he thereafter made it his goal to find the "paths of the sea". His discovery was a result of David's writings. | Science has often been used to contradict the Bible, but it has and will continue to prove the accuracy and authenticity of the Holy Scriptures. |
Throughout the ages, people have tried to estimate the number of stars in the sky. In 150 B.C., Hipparchus said there were less than three thousand stars. Ptolemy stated in 150 A.D. that there were no more than three thousand. Later, after the invention of the telescope, it has been concluded that the stars are innumerable. Yet many years ago, it had been written in Scripture that the stars, as the sands of the seashore cannot be numbered (Genesis 13:16; 15:5; Jeremiah 33:22).
Years ago it was a common belief that the earth was flat. It was thought that if a man were to go too far toward the edge that he would fall off. Early Grecians suggested that the earth was round, but few believed it. Not until the voyages of such men as Columbus and Magellan had it been proved that indeed the earth is a circle. If only man had looked to the Scriptures instead of their own knowledge, for Isaiah 40:22 reads, "It is God that sitteth upon the circle of the earth", and Proverbs 8:27 states, "He setteth a circle upon the face of the deep."
Truly, there are many other examples of scientific foreknowledge, but we will suffice it to say that the Bible and science do indeed support one another. Science has often been used to contradict the Bible, but it has and will continue to prove the accuracy and authenticity of the Holy Scriptures.

Was David alone when asking for the holy bread at Nob? 1 Samuel 21:1 says he was alone, but Matthew 12:3-4, Mark 2:25-26 and Luke 6:3-4 all say he was with others. Is there a contradiction?
