The Weaker Member
1 Corinthians 12:22

No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary.

At the sound of a gong, two friends come for their midday meal at a leper colony in India. The one, unable to walk, rides on the back of the other, who is unable to see. Alone, neither could make it. Together, they make up for one another's weaknesses. Halfway around the world, two Belizean friends make the mile long trip down a rugged dirt road to worship, one pushing the other's wheel chair. Juan suffered from serious episodes of seizures, and his knees were so bad, there were days when he simply was unable to walk. However, such bodily trials could not deter him from bringing his wheel chair bound friend to worship.

No part of the body, whether it be a presentable part (ie. feet, hands, eyes, ears, etc.) or an unpresentable part (ie. heart, lungs, liver, etc.), is without a purpose. We can readily understand with regard to the physical body that these unpresentable or seemingly weaker parts (ie. they are much more delicate and susceptible to disease) are indeed necessary. It is so with the weaker parts of the church as well. Each one is a part of the whole, each part is necessary to make the whole body function as it ought.

The abilities of individual members in the Lord's church are diverse. Not all share the same ability to preach and teach. Not all have the same capacity to be a helpful listener. Not all are capable to help with financial needs. But, to each one is given a different set of talents for the betterment of the body of Christ. It can be easy to overlook the "seemingly weaker" parts, but stories such as Juan's call our attention to the great place these hold in the body of Christ. Compared to the works of some, Juan's routine trek behind his friend's wheel chair may seem small, but his friend Louis knew for surety that Juan was a necessary part in the body. As a result of Juan's love for the Lord and his persistence in pushing his friend to church, Louis became obedient to the Lord as well.

BUT NOW GOD HAS SET THE MEMBERS, EACH ONE OF THEM, IN THE BODY JUST AS HE PLEASED.

When did the transfiguration occur? Was it six days after Jesus foretold His death (Matthew 16:28-17:2; Mark 9:1-2) or was it eight days after He foretold His death (Luke 9:27-28). Is there a contradiction?
