A Life Given To Christ
Colossians 3:1-11 - Question 4
Paul says that we have "...put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him..." Who created the new man? What image are we to have?

The new man was created by Jesus Christ. It was the plan of God that those who come to Him should be made new. A similar text reads, "...be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and...put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness." (Eph 4:23-24). Again, Paul wrote, "The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.... But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts." (Romans 13:12, 14).

What image are we to have? Paul wrote, "...whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren." (Ro 8:29). And again, "...we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord." (2 Cor 3:18).

COLOSSIANS 3:1-11
"If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them. But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all."
